Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is an exotic amusement park like no other.
Located in Vallejo, CA, the park combines thrilling rides with amazing wildlife interactions.
One of the biggest reasons I love and recommend Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to all traveling families is because of the huge variety of animal species and attractions to explore.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom showcases a wide variety of animal programs for guests of all ages. The animal attractions are divided by categories LAND and SEA.
In LAND, you’ll witness African lions, Bengal tigers, Siberian tigers, and cougars!
In SEA, you’ll experience various marine animals up-close and personal- like bottlenose dolphins, Pacific walruses, California sea lions, Pacific harbor seals and even endangered African penguins.
Not only will you see these animals up close, you’ll be able to interact with them and feed them as well!
Feed fish to a hungry sea lion at Seal Cove, or feed lettuce to a cuddly Giraffe at the Giraffe encounter.
For more intense interactions, head to the Shark Experience or Alligator Isle!
A beautiful exhibit to explore is the Butterfly Habitat.
You’ll love the newest thrill ride, Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, where you’ll be propelled in the air at nearly 70 mph while swinging back and forth and rotating!
For more thrilling rides, check out Medusa, Hammerhead Shark, and Kong.
There are a variety of rides that do not have minimum height requirements. For the little ones, I recommend Merlin’s Seaside Tours, Frog Hopper and Fog Horn’s Seaport Railway.
For the whole family, I recommend Monsoon Falls and Ark.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offers some amazing shows!
Be sure to pick up a show schedule at The Explorer’s Outpost by the main entrance, and check it periodically throughout the day.
Odin’s Temple of the Tiger is a great family show, as is the Waterworks Sea Lion Show. Don’t miss Drench– an awesome Dolphin show in the Toyota Stadium.
Other great shows to enjoy are Aquaped Wacky Waterwork, Discover our Ocean Friends and Looney Tunes We Got The Beat
